Classification: Query
Surnames: BEARCE, BIERCE, BEARSE, BEARSS
The family of Josiah Bearce 3rd and his wife Freelove Canfield, their son James Monroe Bearce and daughter Mary Caroline Bearce who lived in Penfield NY abt. 1880s is reported in 1935 to have been in possession of a diary written in Connecticut by Zerviah Newcomb Bearce circa 1700-1780. If it exists, this diary contains some remarkable statements about early American colonial history. It may be entitled "A True Chronical of the Bearce Family" and may be extant or copied in the 19th century by Josiah Bearce 3rd. This info can be found in Franklin Bearce's handwritten, unpublished manuscript "From Out of the Past." Does anyone have any info on the Zerviah Newcomb Bearce diary!!!!
Thanks. Perhaps if someone out there could check with the Penfield New York historical society--if there is one--or the Rochester New York historical society
