My g.-g.-g.-g.-g.-grandfather, John BARR, is listed in Beer's History of Greene County as one of the founding members of the Coxsackie Masonic Lodge.

His daughter, Mary, married Samuel CORNWELL/CORNELL, and lived for some time in Coxsackie; migrated about 1810 - 1820 to Cortland County, NY, and both died in 1836 and are buried in the Cortland Rural Cemetery on the outskirts of the city of Cortland.

Presumably, John and Hannah (CHEVALIER/SHEVALIER) BARR migrated to Cortland County, but John BARR died early in the 19th century. Hannah, his widow, is buried without her husband in an obscure cemetery in the town of Barker, Broome County, NY (mid-19th century), but my search (as well as searches of other researchers) of Greene County, Broome County, or Cortland County cemeteries for John BARR has turned up nothing.

ALSO --

I am looking, in particular for information about the relationships between Samuel and Mary (BARR), Jacob and Dorcas (CHEVALIER or SHEVALIER), Henry, Lewis, and Gilbert CORNWELL (spelled variably as CORNELL or CORNWALL); also John and Hannah (CHEVALIER or SHEVALIER) BARR.

I believe this family migrated (over several generations) up the Hudson River from Flushing (Queens) and did so during the 18th century. Others from the family may have been, prior to Greene County, in Dutchess County (Amenia, to be exact) and perhaps Orange and Westchester Counties -- other counties south of Greene and Dutchess.

Thanks.
