I am seeking any info on the family of Newcomb Hoag (Sr) who was born __ Jun 1833 in Wilna, Jefferson Co., NY according to his registration for the Civil War and census records. He served in the 21st Regiment, New York Cavalry and may have fought in the Battle of New Market, VA.

He is living in Grieg, Lewis Co. by 1850* and spent most of his life in that area (mainly Lyonsdale).

He married Margaret Hurd (b Apr 1832 in England) about 1860.

He had at least 4 children including:
Eliza A- b ca 1860
Lorena Frances- b 1860
Charlotte- b 1862
Newcomb, Jr- b ca 1865


* In 1850 he appears to be son (listed as "New") of Aaron and Polly Hoag in that census

In 1860 Newcomb and Aaron/Polly are listed separately from Newcomb and his family in Greig but next door to one another in that census:

Aaron was born 1794-1796 in Vermont
Polly was born 1797 in Connecticut
