I am based in the UK and am putting the finishing touches to an academic thesis, and require some assistance. In the Brooklyn Daily Eagle newspaper (19 Nov 1883) I have located reference to a divorce. Under the header 'Department of Decapitation' is the following reference:
'A decree of divorce absolute was this morning made by Mr. Justice Brown in favor of Frances H. Burroughs against Charles E. Burroughs. Plaintiff was formerly a Miss Judd.'
I desperately need to locate and take copies of the paperwork relating to this divorce. It is suggested that Charles E. Burroughs was residing in New York City at this time, but I couldn't say where. As the divorce is reported in a Brooklyn newspaper, then I assume it was Brooklyn. I also don't know which court 'Mr. Justice Brown' was connected with at the time, as the notice doesn't provide those details.
Can anybody suggest where I would be able to locate paperwork relating to this divorce?
