Madison County Times 5-12-1911 Friday
Wallace Malcolm Johnson was found dead in his row boat on Oneida Lake, near South Bay, Sunday morning. He had gone out Saturday night to fish near Lewis Point. His lines had not been out, so it was evident that he had been stricken while rowing. He had been in poor health for some time from heart disease and Coroner Duel thinks this was the cause of death. The boat was discovered by Alonzo Burdo of Oneida. Mr Johnson had lived on the lake shore and spent much time in fishing. After spending the winter at the home of his son George in Canastota, he had just rented a cottage at South Bay. His age was 57. He is survived by children as follows: George, Ira, Benjamin, Canastota; Mrs Ora Benedict, Butte Mortes, Wis; Nora Johnson, Syracuse; Mrs Sylvester Slover, Syracuse; Mrs John Hurley, Canastota.
