Actually, although RPL does not lend out it's film (that's why they are always here for use) the state library in Albany does lend them out via I.L.L. So you could access the films that way.
The McIntosh index can lead you to a two word mention of someone, or to a picture of their farm/etc. and an actual picture of them. Can't tell what you might find. If you have Monroe County ancestry its probably worth downloading so that you have it for reference's sake.
