As I recall, the announcements changed form many times - sometimes it was in the "Daybook"; sometimes it just says a boy or girl (no name given) was born to Mr and Mrs Whatever, and with out of wedlock births, there is a vanishingly small chance it would be mentioned back then. Sadly, NY state requires that birth indexes be held back for 75 years, so the newest that can be checked is 1937 (soon to be 1938 in 2013).

Also, I think that fultonhistory.com only has the Democrat and Chronicle down to 1948, according to the man who runs the site.
