Is anyone researching the John Canavan family in MonroeCo NY?

I had information that after the death of Jacob V. SANFORD in 1817, his widow Naomi m. John Canavan, and he subsequently became Guardian to her young children, Hulda and John SANFORD.

A kind friend sent me the 1820 Census record (MonroeCo) for John Canavan, and it records children as three daughters and 1 son BUT none of them are called Hulda or John (SANFORD or Canavan)

SOOO, is there any record of where children Hulda and John Sanford lived after 1817 -in case their mother did marry John Canavan?,- who must have had three children by his first wife?

OR, is there a record of John CANAVAN's marriage c1817 to another woman?

In any case, Is there a record of Hulda & John SANFORD living with SANFORD OR SCRAMLING relatives in the Mendon area after 1817? Would Surrogate Court records be the place I should search?

If Hulda & John SANFORD remained in Mendon, I would like to trace their lives into adulthood.
