Unfortunately NY state death indexes exist but by law cannot be put online. So they must be checked in person. However, there are other sources. The Rochester City Directories are online,[http://www3.libraryweb.org/lh.aspx?id=1105] as are the newspapers indexes [http://www3.libraryweb.org/lh.aspx?id=963]; the 1892 state census is online free at familysearch.org [https://www.familysearch.org/search/record/results#count=20&...] as are the main city cemetery indexes [http://www.lib.rochester.edu/index.cfm?PAGE=3310 and http://mcnygenealogy.com/cem/index.htm]. Also the city marriage records 1876-1992 (no matter what the web page says) are online as well. http://www.cityofrochester.gov/app.aspx?id=8589943531]. The city dirs give the death dates
