St. Patrick's would have been the predominant Irish Catholic church in that time period. While it is true that going to the closest church would be the most logical, depending on how important it was to worship with others who were Irish, they may have attended St. Patrick's.

Odd that you do not find the marriage listed at the RCIP website (http://www.rcip.info/) - are you certain that they married in Rochester?
