Info on Marie Dannette Peek circa 1950

Respectfully request any assistance anyone can provide with locating any info on my great aunt. Per her mother's obit (Stella Pearl Peek), Marie Dannette was living in Rochester in 1950. It did not indicate a married name but she would have been around 22 years of age. The only other tidbit I have on her is she was possibly a classical pianist. Don't know if her being in Rochester might be related. Her father, William Peek (b 1873, MI)was still alive with Stella Pearl's passing and he may have relocated with her after that.

Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide
Dennis Peek (Genesee County MI - Peek)

JESCHKE in Buffalo -death location?

I am trying to find the death location and any other information for my uncle Rev. William Marion JESCHKE. He was born Dec 1893 in Illinois, was pastor at St. Luke's Evangelical and Reformed Church, 335 Richmond Avenue in Buffalo in at least the years 1930-1940. He was listed in his brother's obit as living in Buffalo in May 1968. His wife's name was Vera and his children Marion and Channing.

Unfortunately the SSDI lists his death date, 5 June 1989, but not the location of his death or last residence. It may well have been Buffalo, Erie County, New York, since he lived so many years in that city. I would love to order a death certificate and obituary for William Jeschke, but need that information. Is there a death index for New York - or Erie County, that would list his death?

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thank you very much.

Sincerely,
Katherine

but i need more help. I've been scouring the fulton history sight looking for my family member...and i honestly can't imagine that they elluded the papers AND the cops forever...they could not have been that could been THAT good.
I found a series of three articles about my great great grandfather, getting arrested for a street fight...back in 1903...but that's it.
My great grand father was Michele DiLorenzo (Michael DiLorenzo, Lorenzo, Lawrence)...he moved around quite a bit. but eventually landed in Buffalo. He grew up in Rochester and most of his family still had lived there (and the decendants still do. I just don't know any of them).
But my grandfather who was born and died in Rochester...but lived all over WNY for parts of his life...by the mid 1930s was living back in Rochester...His name was Wilfred DiLorenzo (Larry DiLorenzo, Lorenzo, Lawrence)...and apparently he was arrested for something that his father did...but he took the fall...and he ended up in Elmira...the story in the family that i DO know is it was from mafia-related boot legging or something close to that.
his father (my great grand father) was a shady, lying, two-timing, wife/child abandoning...so and so...and his son (my grand father) idolized him. and they thought they were big shots.
because when my grandfather would come back into town...where his wife and two children were...way down in Dunkirk (and this story comes from my father's 83 year old friend) back in the 1940s...he would be wearing big fancy suits...driving a mafia car...smoking cubian cigars and acting like a big shot.

so anyway...i've emailed and written to the Elmira prison...with no answer...I've tried asking about how to get those records from EVERYONE i could think of...then i thought to look at the fulton site...and nothing...
I even asked a mafia expert in Buffalo to do some diggin' for me...and nothing.

is this just another family lie? or can some one help me dig up the juicy dirt?

my great uncle Joseph Lawrence. was born on April 3, 1900 in Genesee Falls. they moved to Rochester, and he died there on Feb 9, 1995. Other than the 1900 census, the 1910 census, and his SS Death Cert. I have no other info on him. He apparently lived his whole life in Rochester. His Parents were Ferdinando DiLorenzo and Carmella Parella, although she died in child birth with him, and he was raised by the second wife, Maddelena Pollice. he grew up on 82 Melody St.

I can't find a 1920 or 30 census for him. Nor can I find an obit anywhere for him. I don't know if he got married or had children or anything like that. any help would be appreiciated.

Also...may have gone by the last of of DiLorenzo or Lorenzo.

Once again I am going to give this query a try; still hoping someone can help solve a Pelton descendant mystery: In the Pelton Genealogy (original one) Eunice Pelton, b 1806, d/o (my) Lemuel Pelton, married first Seymour Pond and second Nathan Wright. She died in Clarkson, Monroe Co. 14 Apr 1855 and had a grand daughter Mrs. Eliza M. Cook who lived in 1879, in North Parma, Monroe, NY (so says the book). However, I have never been able to find Eliza anywhere, even on a census; does anyone have any information on her? Does anyone descend from Eliza? Can anyone tell me about the family on the 1850 census for Clarkson, Monroe County, consisting of: Seymour Cook age 27 born VT; wife Elizabeth age 26 born NY; a dau Frances age 4. I have the death/cemetery listings for the parents & Frances, which still tell me nothing about Elizabeth - who were her parents? Could she be the Eliza M. Cook I have been searching for?

Looking for descendants from the large, immigrant family of HUGH COOK, b. 1815, & MARY ANN MURRAY COOK, b. abt. 1820, who came from County Westmeath, Ireland to Wheatland, Monroe Co., NY in 1847 and whose descendants are found in Wheatland, Sweden, Rochester and Scottsville at least through the 1930 Census. Members of her JAMES MURRAY family came at the same time. The 8 children of Hugh and Mary Ann are: (1) MATTHEW COOK, b. 1835, d. aft. 1900, m. Anne; (2) CATHERINE COOK, b. 1841; (3) THOMAS COOK, b. 1843, d. aft. 1880, m. Elizabeth; (4) JAMES COOK, b. 1844, d. 1931, m. Elizabeth Clifton in California; (5) MARY COOK, b. abt. 1849; (6) MARGARET J. COOK, b. abt. 1852; (7) ELIZABETH "LIBBIE" COOK, b. abt. 1854; (8) JOHN F. COOK, b. 1858, d. bdf. 1910, m. Sarah J. Spouses names in later generations include BURKHART, LOHWATER and BOAS, but married names of most of the girls are unknown. The family used the same, above first names repeatedly through the generations, but others in the family with the surname "Cook" are: Ellen, Phoebe, Benson, Frank, Anna, Louis, William, Florence, Edmond, Vincent, Fred, Alice, Grace, Agnes, Lillian and Gertrude. This family started as farmers but as the Century progressed they gravitated to laboring and factory jobs in Rochester. The California branch of this family would like to hear from anyone who might have information. Barbara Hays Cook, Sacramento, CA

You guys have turned me on to my own family soap opera. I need to know how it ends - although I know basically John disappears from our lives. I'm looking for resolution of John Klug against Margaret Stone - also known as Margaret Harrison. George Raines is the lawyer and it's being tried in the NY Supreme Court - Equity Term. That is how it's phrased in The Buffalo Express on 6/21/1900.

I can't find a newspaper article showing how it's ended. I did a search on FultonHistory and am now searching a lot of articles under the lawyer name. I just sent an email to the Buffalo Public Library as well. Any other ideas?

Thanks in advance!

(1) Portrait and Biographical Record of Kalamazoo, Allegan, and Van Buren Counties, Michigan (1892), Chicago, Chapman Brothers, p. 715 has a probably self-written profile of Henry L. Gleason.

"He was born in Clarkson, Monroe County, NY, where he resided until attaining the age of seventeen [1868], when he came to Michigan. His parents, Levi and Mary (Ostrom) Gleason, were both natives of the Empire State, having been born in Onondaga County. The father was a son of Urias Gleason, and died when our subject was an infant of one year. Henry was brought to Michigan by his mother and four sisters at the age before mentioned [i.e. 17]."

In fact, his mother remarried. His stepfather was J. C. Blake, who earned his living surveying for the railroad.

Thanks for any help you can provide relative to Levi Gleason or Urias Gleason.

(2) Mary Elizabeth King married John Smith at Parma, Monroe County, NY before 1855.

Mary Elizabeth King was said in a family history to be the daughter of Mangle King and Charlotte Drummond of Parma, Monroe County, NY. The 1860 census has Mangle King on page 756, dwelling 235, family 242. The family history says that he was born February 13, 1800 and died January 22, 1868. I am looking for corroboration of this information.

I am also looking for information about which John Smith it is that Mary Elizabeth King married. The family history says that he was born August 12, 1829 in Monroe County, NY, and died May 8, 1878 in Shelby, Oceana County, MI.

Hi, I am trying to find out more info on my Klug side of the family. I can only get minimal info from census sheets, and there is some disagreement among family on history. I'm interested in Adam & Martha Klug's family. Their son, John (b.1861) was my gr.gr.grandpa. At one point he left Rochester w/his wife for Buffalo. Some time after they opened Pan-American Laundry he returned to Rochester. I'd like to know if they actually divorced - whatever happenned to him - more about his wife - or more about his parents. A lot of questions. Anyone who can help - or who can recommend a researcher would be appreciated. Thanks!

June 29, 1843, the son of Mason Williams and Wealthy Green Williams. He graduated from Cornell University in 1869, and married Arabelle Sanford, also of Livonia, NY, in 1872. He taught mathematics and business subjects at the Rochester Business Institute in Rochester, NY (Monroe Co.) for 17 years and wrote textbooks on these subjects. From 1889 to 1905 he served as U.S. Consul in France, Philippine Islands, and Singapore. He died at his home in Rochester, NY, Dec. 1, 1909. His children were Grace (Mrs. Louis F. Garrard), Florence (Mrs. Valentine Seaman), Mabel (Mrs. Edgar Lewis), Charles S., Walter L., and John M. I would like to contact the descendants of any of his children. (I am related through Grace Williams Garrard.)

I have information on the BALL family from Ogden. My gr grandmother was Ophelia Ball, daughter of Charles Chadwick Ball who was the son of Nathan Ball Jr. I believe Nathan Ball Jr. and Joseph Ball were brothers. I may even have a photo of Joseph Ball where he is holding a baby. The note on the picture says it is a Five generation picture of the BALL family. One of the peoplel may be Albert Ball and Conway may even be in the photo.
I also have an old BALL photo album with many pictures unidentified. How are you related.
I have Joseph's obituary. I am thinking this may be of some help. I have the Ball line back a few generations but here are gaps. Please contact me via email at wakemp@astound.net

Originally posted: 8 Apr. 1997

I would be most interested in finding information on Ruth Ethel Jennings Thompson, born June 18, 1917 in Mt. Morris, New York. She was or is the daughter of Vivian Thompson and Frederick Jennings of Rochester. They lived at 73 Averill Av in the early 1900s. Vivian's parents, Carrie Belle Spoor and Frank Thompson, originally of Painted Post, are buried in a family plot in Mt. Hope Cemetery along with my grandmother Vivian. Carrie and Frank had two sons, Harold and Clifford and a daughter, Ethel, who moved to California. If anyone might have information on this particular family, I would be most eager to hear from them. My mother was separated from her family when very young and she came to Florida. I have little knowledge of her family.

Seeking anyone who may have knowledge of the following family members:

Carrie Elizabeth (HIE) (b.1887 in Ontario, Canada; d.1926 in Parma, Monroe County, NY) - married Albert OSTRANDER about 1907 probably in Monroe County. He died Jan 1976 - probably in Monroe County. They had they following children: Marion (female, b. abt Nov. 1908), Ruth (died 1919 in Parma), James (died 1926 in Parma) and Geraldine (b abt. 1917 in Monroe County).

It is known that Geraldine married a Raymond PROVEE and had five children: Dorothy, Marilyn, Janet, Raymond Jr. and James Albert. She later married Chester KENYON; no known children.

Many of these family members are buried in the Parma Union Cemetery but I'd like to confirm if others are also.

I'm hoping to locate descendants of the above named persons or anyone with knowledge of them which they're willing to share with me. I'm the Great granddaughter of Carrie's eldest sister, Lillian and have an extensive family history - there were 17 children born to Carrie and Lillian's parents, James Isaac and Mary Jane (HARRIS) Hie of Northumberland County, Ontario, Canada.

I'd also like to obtain copies of obits or other newspaper articles for any of the above mentioned persons.

I have 1930 census information on a Lewis W Cross (baptized William Lewis in Canada), age 35, wife Eva G (nee Killingbeck), age 29, children Hazel born 1924, Robert Isaac born 1926, Edna J born 1928. They lived at 118 Mosley Road and he was a driver for Cartwig(?).

Eva Grace had been in the US since 1905 moving there with mother Margaret Killingbeck, sister Lily, sister Daisy, and brother Percy. Margaret was a housekeeper for William Reynolds on the 1910 census. However, Eva married in Peterborough Ontario Canada to William Cross in 1921.

William survived three ship sinkings in WW1, in the merchant marine, lived in Texas at one time, NY and California. Quite an elusive guy to track down. Hope someone can shed light on this family.

Names were Samuel and Ella (early 1900's). Ella's maiden name was Speis. Marjorie, Edwin and William (names of Samuels children that I have found). I think Marjorie and Edwin may have lived in Monroe until their deaths but have no info on William.

Am looking for information concerning my great grandfather Wilbert F. Dingman. Born 9/8/1873 we aren't sure if he was born in Rochester, NY or Ontario,Canada, as at different times he has claimed both. He married in Rochester in 1900, and listed his parents as Joseph Dingman and Belle Baker. His only child was my grandfather, who he told his fathers name was Robert. We are unaware of any siblings that he may have had. He was a hardware salesman who ended up in Pittsburgh, and ended up marrying my great grandmother, Kathryn Belle Wesley from Altoona. When Kathryn died in 1917 when my grandfather was 3, he never married again. He died in 1953. Please help us fill in the blanks. Thanks so much.

Hello,

My g-g-grandmother's family lived in Rochester for a number of years. Her name was Flora Bosley, she was born about 1854, her father was Alonzo Bosley, her mother was Mary Bray Bosley. Mary Bray was born in Ireland and I have next to no information about her.

I found them all in the 1860 census, but after that Mary disappears. It's a bit frustrating, I don't know if she died or what happened. In all the census' after 1860 Alonzo marks being married, and not being a widower despite the fact that it is he, his elderly mother, and his children. Not sure what conclusions I should draw. I know where he buried, but there is no marker.

Anyway, if anyone is a Bosley or related and has any information from the middle of the 1800's that would be helpful. The Bosley's themselves I can trace quite far, but this Mary Bray is a dead-end. I can find no records of any kind other than census.

This is the same Bosley Line that Bosley's Mill in Pennsylvania is named after.

-Arthur Schultz

Have tried to find a Mary Burnett in 1860 Census for Monroe Co., and thought I had located her as the daughter of William Burnett of Webster. This Mary Burnett married, died, and was buried in the Webster Cemetery.

Family stories indicate that Mary's mother was Catholic, her father a Protestant. Mary attended Catholic school, and had to walk quite far to reach it, whereas the Protestant (or Public?) school was within 3 blocks of her home. Census records have
been of no help. Can someone help with suggestions or other information?
I am looking for Margaret Josephine Holliday and/or her family members. She would have been born some time between 1919 and 1920. I was told she might have originated from the Utica, NY area but lived in the Rochester, NY area in the late 1940's and early 1950's, then went to the Chicago, IL area. While in the Rochester, NY area, she would have known a Harold and Juanita Russell and another lady named Lois.
Looking for information on Drake, Cook, and Gardner families in Monroe County, N.Y.

My grandfather was Raymond Earl Drake born Feb. 13, 1894 in Monroe County, N.Y. He passed away on Jan. 22, 1959 in Gary, Ind. The information I have is that his father was William R. Drake, born in Ohio on June 18, 1872. I have no information on his death. My great grandmother was Ida Flor Gardner born in Monroe County, about 1873.
It seems that William’s parents were Jacob and Margaret Drake, but I have no confirmation that this is so.
The information I have for my great-grandmother’s parents is that they were George A. Gardner, born about Sept. 1844, and Jennie Cook (no information on her birth or decease)
Any information you may have on any of these individuals is greatly appreciated. Thank you kindly.
Just an FYI to all those who post messages to this or other message boards. I discovered after my last post that if you click on my username to contact me, a message pops up saying that I've chosen to hide my contact information (I've done no such thing) and that in order to contact me you must subscribe to an ancestry service for a minimum fee. I had to sign into my account and find a marketing preferences page and select a box that allows my e-mail address to be shown to those who wish to contact me regarding a post. This must be a brand new feature. Unfortunately, although it may result in some revenue/subscriptions for ancestry.com, I think it will drive away many who freely share their information with us on these boards.

BIMMLER , KEEN (KEANE), DALHEIM, DOERICH of Rochester & Greece

I am looking for information on the BIMMLER and DOERICH families of Rochester.

1. My Great Great Grandmother is Christina Bimmler (married name DOERICH) born 9 Jan. 1848 in Baden, Wurttemberg, Germany. She immigrated to the US around 1890. She had a sister named Rose, who according to my Grandfather married a man with the last name KEEN or KEAN. She supposedly immigrated before Christine and was instrumental in helping Christine come to the US. She is said to have lived in Rochester, or maybe Greece. I don't know Rose's birthdate or any other information about her. I do not find her on census records. I find the KEAN family, but no connection.

2. Charles DALHEIM born 17 Sep 1891 in Monroe Co., NY is said to be a cousin of my Great Grandmother, Christina Sophia Doerich (born 28 Dec 1886 - Germany), daughter of Christina Bimmler. I found him on the 1910 census as a child living with his parents in Parma, Monroe, NY. His parents are John C. DALHEIM and Sophia. I haven't been able to establish a relation to the Bimmler or Doerich families. I am trying to find his mother's (Sophia) maiden name.

3. I am also interested in info about the BIMMLER and DOERICH families of Rochester prior to their immigration to the US. I have the names of Frederich (Friedrich) Bimmler born abt 1823, of Baden, Germany. Wife's name is unknown. I also have the name of Johann Doerich (Dorich) born abt. 1835 of Baden, Wurttemberg, Germany. His wife's name is Rose (no maiden name).

Thank you.
