Re: EARLY MOHAWK VALLEY FAMILIES
David,
On p. 859 of Compendium of Early Mohawk Valley Families by Maryly B. Penrose, appears the following entry regarding Johannes Von Kochnat:
Birth/Baptism:
Von Kochnat, Johannes & Elisabetha [?]: Joseph, bapt. 4/20/1766 (RDSA:63). Sponsors: Joseph Kachnat & Anna Ruppert.
The source RDSA refers to "Records of the Reformed Dutch Church of Stone Arabia", ed. by R.W. Vosburgh. Collections of The New York Genealogical and Biographical Society, Vol. 1 (1916).
Neither of these surnames or any variation thereof appears in the 1790 Federal Census for Montgomery County, New York or in the list of people who served in the Tryon County Militia in the Revolutionary War.
Hope the information is helpful. Good luck. Mary Jane
