Looking for information on the Kaufley/Caufley family from Rome, NY. My great-grandmother was Rose Mary Kaufley, born in Rome, NY in 1865. Her father was Antoine Kaufley and her mother was Elizabeth Mathes. Antoine & Elizabeth also had a son named Stephen. Her parents were divorced and her father remarried. When the parents were divorced, the son went to live with an uncle, George Mortis, and took his last name, thus becoming Stephen Mortis. Antoine Kaufley remarried and he and his new wife had a daughter named Catherine that married Louis Kirk. Would love to exchange information on the Kaufley family.
