Re: I am offering to help those who need research in Oneida County
I am looking for the ancestors/family of CHAUNCEY LYMAN BARTLETT born 21 December 1806 in Kirkland, Oneida, New York, died 4 May 1888 and is buried in LYMAN cemetery or North Adams Cemetery, New York. He married MARTHA PIERCE 24 Jan 1831. MARTHA was born 19 February 1812 in Hanover, Oneida, New York and died 11 Jul 1876 in Lorraine(?), New York.
CHAUNCEY and his wife moved to Adams, Jefferson, New York before 1850. I've found on 1850 and 1855 census that there are 3 BARTLETT's (BARTLET) living in Adams: CHAUNCEY BARTLET, JULIUS K. BARTLETT b. 1804, d. 1868 b. Elmwood Cemetery, and FESTUS BARTLETT b.1798 d. 1868 b. in North Adams Cemetery. FESTUS married SYLVANIA b. 1804 and JULIUS married MARY b. 1806 d. 1874 b. Elmwood Cemetery. There is an EBENESAR (EBENEZER) d. 1848 b. North Adams Cemetery, married to EUNICE d. 1857 b. North Adams Cemetery. They are both listed as being excommunnicated from the North Adams Church along with JULIUS and MARY. According to the 1867-1868 business directory JK BARTLETT is an insurance agent and there is also BARNEY and BARTLETT, watches, clocks, and jewelry.
It's possible that EBENESAR (EBENEZER) and EUNICE are the parents of FESTUS, JULIUS, and CHAUNCEY but I can't find anything to substantiate that.
I descend from Chauncey's son, WILLIS PHELPS BARTLETT, b. 15 Mar 1850, Adams, Jefferson, NY, d. 29 Dec 1931 in Elyria, OH. He married Nettie Hall, b. 14 Jun 1857, Lorraine, Jefferson, NY, d. 19 May 1915, Elyria, OH.
I've spent a couple of years searching the internet in hopes of finding out for sure if EBENEZER is CHAUNCEY's father and WILLIS' grandfather. I find many EBENEZER's but nothing to connect them all together.
I appreciate your offer to research in Oneida County. It's a true blessing!
