Lorena, bless you for doing this...just in the little researching I've done it is very time consuming and addicting!
I am looking for info about my ggggg grandfather, Giles Reckard b. mid 1700's in England. I have no other information about him.
His son: John Reckard 1795 - 1829, Madison, Oneida, NY. John married Ann M. Mericle in 1818. She was born 1780 in Madison, Oneida, NY and died 1890.
Giles' daughter: Lana Reckard b. 29 Feb 1808, Madison? Lana was a spinster and lived with her nephew, Stephen.
John and Ann had a son:
Stephen Reckard b. 20 Aug 1821 in Madison and died 20 Jan 1898 in Duncombe, Webster, IA.
Am looking, for siblings, if any of Stephen. Someone else's info about Stephen states he has middle initial of S.
Stephen married Mary Theodocia "Polly" Jaques b. 9 Feb 1826 in Augusta, Oneida, NY and she died 20 Jan 1897 in Duncombe, Webster, IA.
Stephen and Mary "Polly's" first 3 children were born in , Oneida, NY and their last four were born in IA.
Just hoping you can find other info about them. When Stephen moved to IA he was involved in politics and he was a landowner with over 600 acres at one time. He was partnered with another man to build the first grain elevator in Duncombe, IA. I'm hoping you may have info about Stephen's early days in NY and also of his father.
Many, many thanks for your efforts.
