I am looking for any information on the Edmunds family who settled in Steuben. I believe they were originally from Aberdaron, Caernarvonshire, North Wales in the UK. Hugh Edmunds was in Steuben in the 1850, 1860, 1870 and 1880 censuses with his wife Mary. They are buried in Steuben Valley cemetery, Hugh lived 1804-1886 and Mary 1807-1894. There does not seem to be any children.

Hugh was the son of Griffith Edmunds Ty Fwg, Aberdaron who died in 1828. The other children were

I cannot find any of them in the UK either as Edmunds (and variants) or Griffith (patronymic style).

I have a feeling that others siblings went to America as well as Hugh.

I have one good match for Griffith Edmunds born 1815. A Griffith Edmunds was married to Elizabeth Owen (born 1818)and lived in Steuben until Elizabeth died in 1845. They had three children, James, Griffith and Elizabeth. Elizabeth (born 1818) was the daughter of James Owen and Jane Jones. James and Jane had emigrated to America from Wales in 1818. I am related to James Owen on my my mother's side and I am a direct descendant of Owen Roberts (1746-1808) father of James Owen.

Any help on Edmunds would be appreciated.
