John Carpenter Jr. (1775-1859) and Lucinda or Lucretia Avery seem to be my ancestors also, through their daughter Sarah "Sally" Carpenter (1799-1833), who married Simon P. Olney (1796-1878), and who were parents of my Avery Olney (1826-1912). See Sally's improbable gravemarker in South Onondaga, NY, on findagrave.com.

Making this genealogy more likely is the fact that Simon Olney's oldest brother Silvester married into this same Carpenter Family. He married John Carpenter Jr's sister Ruth Carpenter, and Simon and Silvester are near neighbors in the 1820 Onondaga, Onondaga Co., NY Census.

Also I find Avery's oldest brother Nathan Olney (b. Jan. 8, 1819)in the household of their Uncle Rhueben Carpenter in the 1850 Bronson, Huron Co., OH Census. This is the same county where John Carpenter Jr. dies in 1859 (see John's gravestone on findagrave.com). Avery is also in this county in the 1850's. His son (and my ancestor) Oliver Olney is born there in Monroeville in 1855.
