Alta W. Mason, 89, of 606 Cumberland Ave. died Monday from injuries she suffered when her car struck a bus in downtown Syracuse.
A native of Utica, Mrs. Mason resided most of her life in Syracuse. She retired in 1973 as an adjuster with the New York State Workmen's Compensation Board. She attended Syracuse University. Her husband, George, died in 1956.
Mrs. Mason was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Cathedral, its auxiliary, the Daughters of American Colonists, the Daughters of the American Revolution and Phi Beta Phi sorority at SU.
Surviving are a daughter, Diane Maynard of Syracuse; a sister, Marion Slocum of Hialeah, Fla.; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two nephews; and a niece.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Paul's Episcopal Cathedral. Burial will be in Oakwood-Morningside Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, 4612 S. Salina St.
