Two items found published in the Syracuse Union (German-language newspaper published weekly) in 1883, concerning my great-great-grandparents:

Page 3, "Stadt und Staat" [City and State news section], 14 Juni/June 1883 issue:

Translation (with help from Friedrich Huettenberger): "Mister Jacob Kreischer, first cousin to Mr. Jacob Kohl and Adam Weiss from here, arrived here last Tuesday safe and fine from his home (region) of Kirrweiler and was received in the friendliest fashion by his relatives. He had left Bremen on the steamship "Elbe" on May 30 and arrived in New York after a very agreeable and short voyage of only nine and a half days. Tonight Mr. Kreischer will marry Miss Katharine Gilcher in the house of Mr. Jacob Kohl. Pastor Henckell will conjoin the happy couple."

Wedding announcement on page 3 of the Syracuse Union's following issue, 21 Juni/June 1883:

"Trauungen--Kreischer-Gilcher. Getrant ben 14. Juni durch Herrn Pastor E. Henckell: Herr Johann Jacob Kreischer aus Kirrweiler in Rheinpreussen, und Frauline Catharine Gilcher aus Rathsweiler in Rheinbaiern geburtig."

Translation: "Weddings--Kreischer-Gilcher. - Married on the 14th of June by Pastor E. Henckell: Mr. Johann Jacob Kreischer from Kirrweiler in Rhineprussia and Miss Catharine Gilcher born at Rathsweiler in Rhinebavaria."

Pastor Emil Henckell was pastor of the German Evangelical St. Peter's Church (cor. of Butternut & Prospect Streets) from June 1874 to November 1883.
