I have pictures of the graves of Bowdewine Cortright and his wife Ester Middaugh both of whom are buried on the family farm in the Town of Greenville, NY. The pictures were taken less than ten years ago, Bowdewine's stone is very clear.

Peck in Montgomery and Blooming Grove (NY 1800)

I've been searching for years for the birth of James Walker Peck (b. ca. 1803, son of Wm. Peck and Susannah Walker)who lived in Brooklyn, Kings, NY from about 1830 until his death in 1887. Every record showed his birthplace simply as "New York". I have just been able to find him in the 1865 State Census and it says he was born in Orange County. The 1800 census shows two William Peck families in Orange County, one in Montgomery and one in Blooming Grove.
James may have had, among others, siblings named Robert b. ca. 1805, Eliza b. ca. 1807, and William b. ca. 1810. Does anyone know anything about Wm. Peck, Susannah Walker and their family? I believe the entire family moved to NYC in the early 1820's.

Iam trying to find any information on the Hutting family that lived in the Monroe, New York area in the early 1900s. The father was Herman Hutting, the mother was Amy Marion Lloyd Hutting. I'm apparently not getting notifications from ancestry.com anymore when someone posts here. Don't think I can add anything to what's here, unless you need anything on Alexander and Margaret's ancestors. I appear to be missing all this detail on Aaron, John, and Walter. I'm at a dead end with this branch at John Van Tuyl and Susannah Owen who married in 1781, so I've been unable to determine my relationship to any of these guys.

Does anyone know anything about the Samuel Cox family, living in Newburgh, Orange Co, NY in the late 1700's? He supposedly fought in the Revolutionary War. His daughter, Lydia, born about 1790, married Robert Maney, b abt 1772. I know there were quite a few Cox's in Orange Co.(ie, Reeves Cox), but I don't know if they were related. 1831 Goshen land sale, Dunning to Coleman

Lewis and wife Emeline Dunning of the town of Wantage, Essex county, NJ sold approximately 44 acres of land in Goshen to Benjamin C. Coleman in Feb 1831.

My question is how the Dunnings happened to own that land. I checked the grantee index for Orange county, NY and neither of them are listed as buyers of any property. If one of them was willed the property, wouldn't that be recorded in the county where the land is located?

Did you find any information on your Halstead Family? I wonder if you have the parents, grandparents and siblings of of Malvina Mulford? My Jesse Mulford was living in Orange County in 1850 and I have found his christening record in the Westtown Presbyterian Church in 1824. There were no parents listed. I would appreciate anything anyone has on these Mulfords. Thanks a lot.

My name is Ron Hunter. My great great grandfathers name was Robert Kidd Hunter. He is buried in Hay Springs Nebraska as is his wife Elizabeth Tears Hunter. They moved from Walden, New York to Otoe County Nebraska in 1877 and thento western Nebraska in 1884. They had three sons, Willaim, Hiram, and Mathew. Mathew is buried in Unadilla Nebraska, Hiram is buried in St. Paul Nebraska and William Is buried in Hay Springs Nebraska. I would be interested in hearing from any desendents especially Mathews since the last known contact with them was about 90 years ago.

I have been trying, without any luck, to find the parents of my Great great grandfather Stephen O'dell. I know he was born in NY in 1825, died July 13, 1892 and was living in West Milford NJ in 1850. He was married to Esther Cronk sometime around 1847. He had a 2 yearold baby according to the 1850 census. He had 8 children. 1. Rebecca married Sylvester Falconer. 2. Ramsey. 3. Mary E. married William McGirr. 4. Elizabeth married James Hazen. 5. John. 6. William. 7. Stephen and 8. Peter, my Great Grandfather.
If you could provide any information it would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not a resident, but as a researcher, I've never seen a Coal City in Orange Co., NY. Better check your text.
Are you certain your grandmother was in Minisink with a Post Office in Middletown? That is about 25 miles away by modern roads. There was a post office or two in Minisink Twp. in 1860.

I recently found a photograph of an old envelope that was sent to Miss Carrie CASERON of Walden, Orange County from Jena, Thuringia, Germany in 1859. I am unable to find a Carrie CASERON in Orange County and wondered if someone more familiar with the area can find her. I believe that Jena may be her or her parents' birthplace and this envelope will be helpful to someone in their genealogical research. The reason I have a photo of the envelope is because of my interest in using old envelopes and postcards in genealogical research. I have an article in the spring 2009 issue of New England Ancestors entitled Philatelic Genealogy (viewable at the philgen website) and have started the philgen website.

I an trying to find proof of the marriage of Henry Lyons and Martha Drake. Is it recorded in church records? If so what church? I found the records where Martha Lyons married John Manhart. But was hoping church records may give her parents as well as some info on Henry also. I looked up the military records and he signed up at the same time, and in the same Bruen's Co, Baldwin regiment as James Lyons. That all that was in the records at Washington DC.
The info that you give is the same that I received from my grandparents - given to them in 1911 by Edward W Burt

william riley wells was born and raised in orange county, ny. his wife betsy k. skinner was also born and raised there. they and their families migrated to susquahanna, pa and they were married in 1832. i don't know who his parents were or if he had any siblings.william is my greatgreat grandfather. one of his sons was abijah wells , well known judge of seneca, kansas.

Corrections for the 24 Apr 2002 posting: David T. Brown was married (1) to Hulda Snow and (2) to Olivia C. Silsbury. Olivia is his 2nd wife, not his sister. His son William Brown was born in Victor, NY.
