Reuben David BABCOCK (b. 3 July 1829), my 2nd great-grandfather, was born "eight miles north of Carlton near Oak Orchard Creek on the shore of Lake Ontario". His father, Mr. BABCOCK, died when he was about 6 months old, therefore, about January 1830. Reuben's mother, Sophronia SCOFIELD (b. 16 Dec 1808 in NY), married again to Benjamin A. ARCHER (m. 14 Dec 1830 in Carlton, Orleans Co., NY). Sophronia's county of birth is not known, but, her mother was born in Wayne Co., New York, two counties to the east of Orleans Co. Therefore, it is likely that Mr. BABCOCK was born in, or at least met and married Sophronia in either Wayne or Orleans Co. NY... and, based on the location of Reuben's birth and the location of Sophronia's second marriage, he is probably buried in Orleans Co.

I am looking for the identity of Mr. BABCOCK... his marriage to Sophronia... any potential clues to Mr. BABCOCK and his family. If you can assist in any way, I would appreciate that assistance.
