In response to your query on the Otsego County message board, I strongly suspect that your William Gregory had no connections with New Lisbon or Otsego County, but was the son of Martha Gregory (English born of Scottish parents) who in 1880 lived in Henderson, in the household of a Washington Stevens, surrounded by Nutting families. Certainly the local newspapers seemed to think so.
The Martha Gregory (wife of Angel Gregory) living in New Lisbon in 1880 appears to be several decades too old. There is, of course, no surviving 1890 census.
My suspicion is that she was a single mother. In any case, this is the evidence I've been able to find on the subject:

to be carried on board the transport. He has lost 50 pounds since he left for Cuba and still suffers from the effects of the hardships endured during the Santiago campaign. Henderson also

has another representative in the 9th infantry, the other being Private Montague.

Martha Gregory died at her home in Henderson after a short illness aged 45 years. She was born in Scotland and came to America when a young girl. The greater part of her life had been spent in this town. She is survived by an only son, Will Gregory. Her funeral was held from her late home Wednesday, June 23, and the interment was at Woodside. The services were conducted by Rev. Mr. Adam.
