Sgt. Jack Frey was the stepfather of my mother's cousins. He served with Troop G of the NY State Police, and lived in Troy. On 18 March 1931, he was shot and killed in the line of duty. According to a Police Memorial web site, a Trooper Updyke was also involved in the incident. My Mom's cousin told me that the murder was the basis of one of the episodes on the old radio show "Gangbusters." I'm hoping to find more info about the shooting and about any trial that followed.

Thanks for any help.

Peggy
