Pre-consolidation vital records?

Hi all,

I've perused the pre-consolidation (1898) vital records more times than I could count. At least I THOUGHT I had.

I used FHL films 1376368 and 1376369 which I thought were the sum total of official (municipal) vital records available. They are ledger entries.

I know that the Municipal Archives holds some pre-consol records also (Ref: http://www.nyc.gov/html/records/html/vitalrecords/holdings.s... under notes), but I always assumed they were duplicates of the above films. But I hear that possibly they hold more information? (In talking of an 1887 death.)

I'd love to settle this. I'm not local. Does anyone have a pre-consolidation record from the Municipal Archives, especially death, they can send me? I can look up the corresponding record in the films and see if the info is the same or not.

Thanks!
Janet
