OBITUARY. David Soper, of Alden, at one time a resident of Kalkaska, died February 7, 1916, of heart trouble. He was born near Ogdensburg, St.Lawrence Co., N.Y., July 15th, 1838, having passed his 78th year. He was married Nov. 28, 1859 to Minerva Gallinger, of Cornwall, Ontario. Seven
children were born to this union, two of whom died in early life, and a daughter, Claribel, on October 18, 1900.
He is survived by his aged widow; one son, Seymour Soper, of Kalkaska; and three daughters, Mrs. Theodosia Brink, of Dighton, Mich; Mrs. Nellie Terry, of Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.; and Mrs. Elva Stafford, of Manistique, Mich.;
twenty grand children and twelve great grand children, three sisters and two brothers.
Deceased came to Michigan in 1864, locating near Grand Rapids. He later removed to Montcalm County, from thence to Kalkaska and finally, about nineteen years ago, removed to Alden.
Being kind and tender-hearted he had a host of friends to whom he was always ready to lend a helping hand, making the golden rule the measure of his life. He was a kind husband and father, and will be greatly missed by those who knew him best. Interment was made in Evergreen Cemetery, Kalkaska, Elder Wheeler officiating.
