josef tys and wojciech jaworski, who arrived Ellis Island from Breman, 24 Sep 1910 also listed this address as their U.S. destination. Both were from Galicia. Perhaps Antone Zeglen/Zeglin and Frank Meschlinski [Frank Muschlewski] were in the business of helping others from Galicia/Austria immigrate -- especially since their immigration was 30 years prior (in 1879/1880).

From my Wojciech Jaworski research to date, I don't believe Zeglin or Muschlewski were related individuals.

Hi,

Researching Faraone,DiLorenzo,Rossi and Corniello families from Alvignano, Italy and came across many Dimatteo families. I know that quite a few families from the Alvignano region immigrated to Schenectady in the early 1900's. Some of the records that I found are:
Luigi diMatteo married a Maria Raffaela Faraone in 1871 in Alvignano-His parents are listed as Vincenzo diMatteo and Carolina D'AGOSTINO. Luigi/Maria had a dau in 1880, Maria Adelaide in a small town/village of Alvignano called San Nicola.
Guiseppe diMatteo married a Maria Guiseppa diLorenzo and had 2 dau: Domenica in 1869 &Carolina diMatteo in 1876.Guiseppes' father is listed as Domenico diMatteo.
One of the other villages that comes up is Angelilli. I hope the locations help narrow your search.

Thank you David, That was very helpful. Am just starting. Are you aware of a Sarah Barrett and/or a Kit (female) Barrett. My mother spoke of them as very adventurous women, lived in Canada. My mother died a few yrs ago & my father several yrs before that. I appreciate your help. I live in Maine with no relatives that I am aware of in New England!
Again, thanks for your help,
Deb Wood Hall
Hello,

The information I have on your grandmother Agnes Katherine Croghan is as follows:

Born: Dec 29, 1888, in Baltimore, MD
Father: Patrick H. Croghan (died June 22, 1893, in Baltimore)
Mother: Katherine Queeney (born 1854 in England, died July 12, 1915 in Baltimore)
Siblings: Anna Theresa Croghan (born about 1891, married Joseph Norman Geipe)
Married : (1) Martin J. Mountain, Feb 21, 1914 in Baltimore. He died Jan 18, 1917 in Schenactady, NY. (2) Adam Paul Barrett, Jan 29, 1929 in Hillsborough, Florida. He died March 4, 1955 in Ellicott City, MD
Died: April 3, 1971 in Baltimore
Children: (1) Dorothy Marie Mountain (b. Aug 6, 1916 in Schenactady), (2) Martha Buckley Barrett

I believe that Martha Buckley Barrett (Dorothy's half sister) is still alive. I have also heard from one of Joseph and Anna Geipe's grandchildren. Adam Paul Barrett was the brother of my great-grandfather, which is how I know about Dorothy.

Best Wishes
David
I presume St. Mary's is a catholic church. You might try the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany 453-6600. If you look in the phone book there is a list of numbers but I would try the main number & let them point you in the right direction. How is John C. McNally connected to your tree?

Dorothy was my mother, Agnes my grandmother as well. I recall that my mother did a fair amount of research re Agnes's family & I imagine you have that info. As I am thinking that was shared with Martha. Wish I knew more about the Mountain family. First foray to Ancestry...would appreciate any info you may have. Aren't families funny? I never expected to see my mother's name generate such interest!
Dorothy was my mother, Agnes my grandmother & Nancy was my "Great Aunt Nancy" - my mother was very fond of her & named her first child Nancy. I know my mother did an extensive family history on Agnes's family but I do not know what happened to it. I believe there was a Revolutionary War great great great grandfather somewhere along the way. I will see what I can find and please let me know what, if anything, you learn. Thanks!

Hi-Glad to see someone else researching the Laque name. Did you Laque's in your lineage ever live in VT as well? I have ancestors that lived in Salisbury,VT in 1853 and then moved to WI. The names are Joseph & Martha Laque, son Charles, son William Joseph Laque. If we are related I will gladly share the info I have on them. Also, I think we are related to John Laque circa 1800. A widow of John Laque, Polly (Mary) also rec. a land grant in WI. I would appreciate hearing back from you. Thanks.

Also the name William John Laque is my g-g-grandfather. Are we directly related?? I have done much searching and can not go beyond the names of Joseph & Martha.

Hello Joanne, I remember visiting your family when I was a kid. There were 10 children in the Ovid and Melvina Revette family. 5 boys and 5 girls (4 lived) My mother Clara being the youngest of the living children. Our aunt Melvina died 2 days after being born and is buried with Grandma Melvina at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Schenectady. I've been given info from my mom, growing up around the family and info from one of our second cousins in Balston Spa many years ago. Some of his info is posted on Roots web. I have also searched census info, news articles, obits. etc. We are part of a large family as you know. Great grandma Clara Yelle Nelson (whom my mom was named after) had 12 brothers and sisters and her parents had quite the bunch of siblings as well. I have found a few connections to Canada, but not Native American. I'd love to see what you have with that. I am at a loss on Great Grandpa Isaac Nelson's (Uncle Ike's named after) side of the family. One of these days I'll make it to Blackbrook to look at archives. I know most of the Revette family is from Constable, NY. Your mother and Aunt Eve lived there with Great grandpa Frank and Great Grandma when they were young before moving to Schenectady. I have about 2 generations of the Yelle family members names in lists but haven't put it into a format. I have about 3 to 4 generations in a format of our immediate family. I can email it to you. But,it's not polished enough to upload here. Email me if you want a copy at Thshel555@aol.com We can compare information. We had a last minute reunion in August and we had 22 people show up. We are talking about doing another one. We would enjoy connecting with your families. Hope to hear from you, Your cousin Theresa

Unfortunately, the city directories did not contain street listings until 1930.

I see that bottler Nelson Ainsworth was at 170 or 172 Front Street from the early 1880s through 1887, then at 328 in the 1888 directory. A more comprehensive search for Front Street residents might reveal a pattern.

Bob Sullivan
Schenectady County Public Library

Hi. I am the grand daughter of nancy geipe. Nancy, formerly anna therese croghan, was the sister to Agnes. My mother is Peggy Brinker. I am interested in learning more about the croghan ancestors. I can't seem to locate any tangible marriage license, birth certificates or death records on my great grandparents Joseph Patrick croghan and Catherine queeney. Does anyone have information about these relatives?
