Elizabeth Wiley married John Lyon and they had a son Joseph Lyon (later Lyons) before moving to PA in 1796.
They settled in Greenwood , near what is now
Bloomsburg, Columbia Co PA. They moved a few miles to
Pine Summit, PA in 1802. John owned much land and a
tavern on the road from Bloomsburg to Muncy. John and Elizabeth's children- MARY LYON , JAMES LYON, ROBERT LYON,
EDWARD LYON, ELIZA(BETH) LYON, SOLOMON LYON, PAUL LYON,HANNAH LYON and ESTHER LYON in addition to JOSEPH LYON who was born in NJ. JOHN LYON died in 1827 and his widow,
ELIZABETH WILEY LYON married PETER MAURY (Mowry
Moury, Maurer!) According to family history and the written
documentation in a history of Columbia County PA, Elizabeth
and Peter and all of John's children except Joseph and
Solomon, moved to Stuebben County NY. Joseph and Solomon stayed in Pine Summit,PA and there is no record of any of the siblings returning.
I have noticed that there is a "Wileyville" in Stuebben Co. I
do not know if Elizabeth had kin there, and is this why they
moved there? At any rate, there may be quite a few people
looking for their lost Lyon/Lyons in NY state that have no
idea that these children came from the NJ Lyon family via
John from Sussex Co NJ and Columbia/Lycoming Co in PA.
Can anybody help?
