James E. and Luther Swarthout appear in the 1840 census of Stueben Co. Do they connect to John C. Swarthout, born 1816, N.Y. (l850 census) died 1854 in Lyndon, Whiteside Co., Il? John C. married Lovisa Hamilton in Illinois. They named their son, John E. Coming to Whiteside County to join John C. was a James and a Luther Swarthout. This James and Luther both died in Illinois before 1850. Am trying to prove the parentage of John C. Swarthout. Any help appreciated. (I do have a copy of Swarthout Chronicles.) I happily share information. Thanks. Bev Nelson
