The Wayland Town Clerk should have a copy of his death cert. as these are kept in the Town where the person died. If they were taken to a hospital then the death cert is in that town i.e. Noyes Hospital in Dansville or Memorial Hospital in Bath. I'm not sure if there was a hospital in Wayland, but I don't recall ever hearing of one. Death records were began in the mid 1880's so you surely should find one either in the county or in NY State records.
