My research suggests Lydia BRONSON m. George Washington NORTHUP/NORTHROP (son of Ebenezer Northup/Northrop and ___) as his second wife at Owego, Tioga Co., NY in 1842.

My problems:
(1) I need proof of Lydia's marriage to GW. His prior marriage to Sally Stimpson and subsequent marriage to Hannah (possibly) Pierce is not sufficient.

(2) Lydia is possibly the daughter of AMOS BRONSON, but I have no proof of her parentage. I also need proof of her birth 10 May 1822 at Owego and her death 22 Jan 1860 at Rawson Hollow, Tompkins Co., NY.

Can share image and census information for George Washington Northup/Northrop, who d. 17 Jun 1895 at Ithaca, Tompkins Co., NY and is bur. there Ithaca City Cemetery, Lot 138.

James and Abigail Walker were living in Caroline on the 1830 census. James died in 1832 and then Abigail married William Carl in 1833. William Carl died and then Abigail moved by her son Thomas H. Walker in Waushara county Wisconsin. Looking for any information on where they lived, what James did for a living and where he maybe buried.

I am hoping someone would be willing to provide information regarding my great-uncles that are buried in Tompkins County. As I live in MO I have been unable to travel to NY for research. Dale Forrest Woods, his wife, Elsie and son, Donald F. Woods are buried in Willow Glen Cemetery in Dryden. Also possible that Grover Woods is buried there as well. And if anyone knows any member of this family that is living, I would certainly like to contact them. Donald Woods was married to Laura Hart Woods. Grover Woods was married to Shirley Doll Woods and they lived in Florida.
The next great-uncle is Charles L. Crossgrove and his wife, Rosella. They are buried at Green Hills Cemetery and possibly their infant daughter.

If anyone would consider taking pictures of these for me I will be happy to reimburse your costs & mailing.

Hi, I am trying to find the parents of David Personius, born March 6, 1853, and possibly raised by a man named Carl States. I see that Neal has info to share with people, but the last thing I see written by him is in 2004, and it is now 2008. Is it true that the Personius name came from Holland? I believe it is possible that our David (my mother-in-law's grandfather) may be the son of Francis and Mary listed in the 1860 census in Hector, Schulyer, NY. Looking for children of Peter and Lydia Shafer and connection to David and Eliza Smith of Tompkins County, NY.

Peter and Lydia Schafer were sponsors for 'Silvenus' Smith, s/o David and Eliza Smith in Lansing, Tompkins County, NY, 1829. Smith spelling was German in church records but David Smith was a red headed Irishman, b. 'Pennsylvania', who moved to Oakland County, Michigan about 1831 where the rest of his children were born.

Peter and Lydia Schafer had three children baptised in the same church in Tompkins County, NY,

George Schafer, 6 Dec 1823, sponsors George and Elizabeth Bauer;

Philip Schafer, 30 May 1826, sponsors Adam and Sarah (Conrad) Bauer;

Sara Anna Schafer, 11 Nov 1829, sponsors, Mr Bossard and wife.

Peter, and Lydia are in census records in Genoa, Cayuga County, NY. They are buried in Genoa Village Cemetery according to information on that site. Peter d. 17 Apr 1870, age 70y 10m,and Lydia A b. 1801, d. 1888.

Have much on descendants of David Smith.

Mrs. Genung was born August 24, 1945 at Kittanning, PA, a daughter of the late Franklin and Evelyn Hammer Witherow. Carol was married to Clarence W. "Chuck" Genung, Sr., on Oct. 21, 1989 at Wallace, NY. She was employed at P&C Markets in Bath, NY and Cortland, NY. She was a member of the Groton Assembly of God Church. Carol enjoyed her family, baking and spending time with her grandchildren. She was an avid card player. Carol was a loving wife, mother, grandmother who will be greatly missed by "Chuck" and her family.
Survivors include her husband, Clarence W. Genung, Sr. of Groton; her children, Cindy (Corey) Zydanowicz of Bath, Patricia (Chad) Higgins of Lausanne, Switzerland, Mark (Jolene) Ferringer of Freeville, Cheryl Marie (Samuel) Rose of Groton, C. Wayne (Regina) Genung, Jr. of Lansing; her siblings, Patricia Nutting, Ruth Lewis, Joey Witherow, Daniel Stover, Randall Stover; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her brothers, James Witherow and Richard Witherow,
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2007, at the Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. Sam Neno officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Friends are invited to call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden, NY. "Tompkins County Gravestones" - Peruville Cemetery, Groton, NY

As a current trustee on the Peruville Cemetery Association, in Groton, Tompkins County, NY, I am currently validating, correcting, and updating the existing information for the cemetery burial list & burial plot map for the cemetery. I'm using a variety of records and one of them is incomplete.

I'm hoping someone reading this list may know where I might obtain/borrow a copy of a book entitled " Tompkins County Gravestones" (author, publisher and date unknown -may be from early 1900's).

I have a few copied pages from this book (pgs 73-75) & on one of them it indicates the list was "continued from Vol. LIII, p. 401 of the record" for the Town of Groton but I haven't been able to locate the other pages.

Also, if any reader has new or corrected information pertaining to any burials at this cemetery, I would greatly appreciate hearing from you offline at my personal email address. Please ensure subject line reads: "Peruville Cemetery burials".

Any suggestions on locating the above mentioned book would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!

Death of Warren Rolfe Lanning, Enfield, Tompkins County, New York

Warren Rolfe Lanning was born in 1847 to Thomas Jefferson Lanning and Susannah Rolfe(daughter of Rueben Rolfe & Hannah Queal). Warren married Jeanette(Nettie)Cronk, daughter of Henry Cronk and Liza Melissa Wakeley. A tombstone for Jeanette Lanning is in the Rolfe cemetery & it says she died in 1920. The tombstone lists Warren R. but does not give his date of death. Does anyone have information on his death and the location of his death. Did he leave a will? In the 1930 census he is listed as living in Enfield, Tompkins County, NY along with his son, Bert. Warren is 82 and his son is 52yrs old. They are listed as boarders at the home of Della P. Hess. I have not been able to find anything further on Warren or Herbert(Bert). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Warren is my great grandfather.

Samuel King and Amy Wyatt are said to have been the parents of Merritt King, a veteran of the Civil War and attorney in Ithaca for a number of years. Merritt married Emma Howland. Can anyone identify who the parents of Samuel King are? He is the grandson of Francis King and Mary Jones of South Hill according to a local history, but his line is not identified.

Levi KING of Tompkins County

Seeking information regarding the RYDER family from the Groton area of Tompkins County. Larry Sr (also known as Poncho), his wife, Pauline and three children: Larry Jr., Joseph (Joey) and daughter, Rachel.

I believe they lived in the area during the 60's as "Poncho" worked with at a pipe company (unknown name) in Groton which made large culvert pipes. Joe probably graduated in mid to late 60's from Groton High School - Rachel in late 60's or early 70's.

I would appreciate hearing from anyone with information about any of these persons.

Thus Frontenac Point has had at least three names (if this stereo card is correct)
Frog Point, Trumansburg Landing, and now Frontenac Point.
I wonder if there were more names?

There is a point at the north end of the lake in Union Springs that has had the following names
Howland
Yawger
Seymour
Pratts
McDonalds

Would make an interesting database to start and also the ever changing names of streams.

John Lewis, b about 1796 NJ, daughter Sarah J. Lewis Thompson Spencer

History of the Upper Mississippi (1881), p. 333 Sherburne Co, says that Mrs.Sarah J. Thompson, who was married to Benjamin N. Spencer, was a native of Tompkins, NY. Census records for Sarah put her birth about 1821.

There seem to be 3 possible John Lewises in the 1820 Fed Census and they are in the town of Dryden.

In the 1850 Federal and Minnesota Territorial Census, John Lewis, age 56, born. NJ appeared with Sarah's family. The Thompson family stopped in Iowa between about 1846 and 1849 where two daughters were born.

I have no further family information. Is anyone researching the Lewis families?

Looking for any information on Nathaniel Bracy (b. VT abt. 1788) who lived in Caroline from early 1800s to about 1842. m. Polly Pierce(?), children: Nelson, Warren, Clark, Elisha, Edwin, Chloe, Sarah. Polly died 1817(?), He married Rowena Stevens, who may have been the same person as Ruamy Hoose. Children: Dyle (Nathaniel?), Harrison, Laura, Daniel. Nathaniel and most of his family ended up in Huron Co. OH, where he died in 1863.

I am looking for information about my great-great-great-great grandfather John wallenbeck. This is what I know about him: He was a Hanoverian soldier from Holland fighting with the Hessions for the British in the Revolutionary War. He was captured by the Americans and then fought for the Americans for the duration of the war. He died around 1830 in the town of Southeast in Putnam County which is now Dutchess County New York. He was married to Joanna (maiden name unknown) around 1792. They had several sons and at least one daughter, Harriet who was my 3rd great grandmother, Harriet Wilson, wife of Peter V. Wilson. They are buried in Grove Cemetery in Trumansburg. I am searching for 1.) Joanna's maiden name 2.) where John came from in Holland 3.) any living descendants 4.) where John and Joanna are buried. I Have been told that the Vanmarter family was from Groton New York, which is in Tompkins Co. The benidicts were also from Groton. Susan Benidict married Amos Vanmarter in 1840, in Blooming Valley, Crawford, PA. John D. Vanmarter and Sarah (saxton) Vanmarter, owned land jointly with Peter and Mary kimmy in crawford county PA. I am curious as to why they jointly owned land. I am searching for Marys madien name, and wonder if it could be Vanmarter, or Saxton. since she was born around 1818 in NewYork.
