Rodney,
The Glens Falls Post-Star of June 8, 1910 has a story of a sawmill accident in which Leslie Finkle of Bolton cuts his hand so badly in a sawmill accident that it has to be amputated. In a December 6, 1912 story about the sawmill going into bankruptcy, reference is made to a lawsuit against the mill that was brought by Byron Finkle for the loss of his hand. It would appear that "Leslie" and "Byron" are one and the same. Not sure if it's possible this Byron could be your father.
Also, the Post-Star of of July 10, 1909 has a story about the explosion of a motor boat at the boat shop of Walter Harris at Caldwell (Lake George village). Employee Henry Finkle's clothing was set on fire but he dove into the water and wasn't injured.
I don't know if these items are in Gates's "Scrapbook." I can post or email the full text if anyone is interested.
