Wow! That's amazing! Where do you live? You must be close to Fort Ann, NY...... I'm really trying to find the names of Lucian's parents and his wife, Henerret's parents. Hennerrett's name spelling is different on every single census so I don't even know the actual spelling. And, I know nothing about her parents except that, through family oral history, she is part French Canadian Indian ~~ I don't even know if that is fact. According to her obituary (from Pilot Rock, OR in 1919), her father fought in the war of 1812 and then drowned in the Hudson River some time later. It's certainly a myster I would like to shed some light upon. Thank you very much for taking the time to provide me these hints. :-)
Sharon (Smith) Martinez
I might be able to be of assistance to you, based upon the 1855 Fort Ann census--which stated that Lucian was a LIFE RESIDENT of Fort Ann. Lucian was also being spelled as Lushan in the deeds books at the Washington Co Clerk's office. Lucian purchased property --part of Lot #4---amounting to 1 acre and 88 rods, from Moses Taylor that was part of land granted to Moses Harris. His property sat on the North border of Benjamin Brown.
When Lucian sold that property, in 1856, he sold to one Mary Wiggins

David's son Joseph L b 1876 married Mary White in 1920 according to the Index of Marriages. I did NOT look to see the SPECIFIC DATE on which the marriage occurred. According to the 1930 census, Joseph and Mary had only been married for 9 years---and had a son, Joseph aged 8 for that census.

Hi,

I just finished ordering the death certificates of Lucian, Hennerret and their son, Pearl, through Oregon State (VitalChek). Wow, was that expensive!!! It was $92.50 for all 3, including the $20 for UPS one day air. I didn't want to spend that $20 but they wouldn't give me a tracking number for the order unless you choose that option.

If these 3 death certificates don't provide any more information than what I already have, I have the last 2 sons to try, Frank and Elmer.

I appreciate so much your helpful advise and counsel.

Sharon

Thank you very much for taking the time to post all of these census reports. That was very kind of you! Unfortunately, I had these and am still stumped as to the maiden name of my great great grandmother. My great grandfather's death record only listed her first name. The death record of his sister only said "unknown" for her mother's name. I guess will go ahead and order the her death certificate. I don't have much hope, tho, because her only surviving son was mentally retarded and probably could not have officially "reported" the death. Thanks again!!

I still can't solve the mystery of Charles Allens' parents. Anyone studying Qua, Armstrong, Gillispie or Allen lineages might know. Charles Allen was a Hebron Farmer in the 1850s and was married to Mary Qua. He was born 1774 in Conn. and died and was buried in Hebron's Old Belcher Cemetery 25 Jan 1853. Mary and Charles' son was Eleazer (Eleaser) Allen married in Wash Cy to Elizabeth "Betsey" Gillispie. Anyone have any hints, ideas or help? Thanks.........

I was denied access to your e-mail so I'll post here.

Could you take a picture of a grave at Fort Miller Cemetery. The name is McMahon, and it is for 2 boys that died in the 1840's. I also have not been able to find the burial place for their parents, John and Catherine McMahon. They were living in Northumberland in 1860 but were not on the 1865 NYS Census. Some of the family moved to Canada during the Civil War and I'm not sure if they went with them and died in Canada.

Thank you.

Kathy

I haven't much on the Beatties, and haven't yet had a chance to look into

that branch. This I know:

My great great grandmother, Grace Beattie Morris (30 Oct 1847 - Feb 1944) was the daughter of Walter B. Beattie (c1792 - 24 Sep 1859) and Jerusha Bennett Beattie (04 Dec 1804 – 30 Sep 1885). She married Henry D. Morris (23 Aug 1833 - 12 Oct 1908) on 24 Dec 1879.

I will get to the Beattie's before it's all over. Right now my family tree is becoming a forest and I'm still trying to wade my way through.

Hope you find this information helpful.

David Guthrie Randles from Argyle and Hebron

I continue my search for family information on David Guthrie Randles who was born about 1832 and married Jane Ann Dennis on Oct 12, 1859 in ARgyle. Their son was Joseph Loudon Randles and is mentioned in a will of Elizabeth Shannon Loudon. Joseph Loudon, Elizabeth's husband, also mentions David Randles, as well as Mary Stewart, wife of John Stewart. I know the Loudon's, Randles, and Stewarts are all connected; some of the pieces I have, but I still can't find David Randles' parents and why his son has the middle name of Loudon. Thanks in advance - Sue

Hi - Yes, I found this as well. Right now I have two conflicting pieces of information that I need to sort out. A letter from a town historian indicates Joseph Loudon Randles grandparents were Alexander and Mary Ann Louden Randles. Makes sense with the Loudon name. But - the historical finds aren't supporting it and it looks like Alexander and Mary Ann Louden Randles were great aunt and uncle instead of grandparents... More to document :-) Thank you for all your help - I do appreciate it! Sue

This is very good detective work, thank you! I JUST received the Argyle Patent book via interlibrary loan and haven't had a chance to look it over. Do you, by any chance, know who Mary Louden's parents were? All these names fit together, but I can't place Mary Louden in with my Loudon family except for the wills I mentioned. I wonder if the person I have as Margaret Loudon is actually Mary? The birthdates are within four years and I have nothing else about Margaret. Also - who do I write to get copies of Alexander's will?
This is very helpful thank you so much!
Sue

I have been researching the family of Joseph Loudon Randles and would like to know if there is anyone who would have access to obituaries from 1957 in Argyle. Joseph was born 17 Apr 1876 in Argyle and died 03 Oct 1957 also in Argyle. I think his parents were David G. and Jane Ann (Dennis) Randles. An obituary might give information about his extended family. Any suggestions would be most appreciated. Thanks to those who have helped along the way :-) Sue suemanz.graham@comcast.net

Melissa Wooddell born abt. 1826 (base on census ages), died after 1889 (when she was reported as a resident of Granville attending her brother's funeral).
Adin V. Cook born abt. 1820 (again, based on census ages), died after 1880 (listed in cenuss that year). There is a death notice in the Greenwich NY People’s Journal, 28 Jan 1881: “In Granville, Jan. 15, Dr. A .B. Cook, aged 64 years”. That could be him, although the middle initial is different it would be an easy mistake. The middle initial V. came from his & Melissa's marriage notice, published in the Jacksons' book of marriage notices form Washington County newspapers. They were married 3 Sept 1844 in Granville.
