I found the info in old newspapers. There is a wonderful, free, searchable historical newspaper database that covers much of NY state (also some nearby Connecticut and Massachusetts). It is
www.fultonhistory.comYou can search "exact phrase" "all the words" "any of the words" or boolean.
You do have to play with it however - I searched "exact phrase" for Salina Boynton or Frank N. Boynton or David Boynton, but you should search for Frank Boynton or F. N. Boynton etc. to cover all the bases. under the search option you can choose how the hits are displayed it is the field called sort type.
date refers to the date it was uploaded to the site, not the date of the newspaper. Name refers to the name of the newspaper, not the name you are searching. I always use "name" to sort because that lists the newspapers alphabetically. I found your info in an Amsterdam or Gloversville or Johnstown newspaper. good luck.
