Hi Guys, I am wondering if someone may be able to help me - this particular brick wall is driving me insane!!!
My Great Aunt Mollie (actually called Mary Ann Fell) married in 1916 in England to a gentleman called William Ashworth. They moved to New York in 1922 living with a family with the surname Greenwood in the Bronx.
Before 1930, William Ashworth died (Mary is noted on the 1930 census as widowed and living with Alfred Greenwood, his stepmother Harriet Ann Greenwood and Alfred's son, Alfred). In 1940 she is married to Alfred Greenwood and living at 296 East 143th Street, Bronx.
I am currently unable to find any marriage for Alfred and Mary Ann, nor a death for them or Mary Ann's first husband William Ashworth.
The information I know for definite is:
Mary Ann Fell born dec 1895 in Stacksteads, Bacup, Lancashire, England. Married William Ashworth in 1916 in Haslingden, Lancashire, England. Travelled to America in 1922 and William died prior to 1930. Sometime between 1920-1930 Mary Ann Ashworth (nee Fell), married Alfred Greenwood, born 26 Oct 1894 in Sanford, Maine, US to Richard Greenwood and Jane Ann Howarth (both English). Richard travelled regularly between England and the US from 1886 right up until 1920's. I cannot find any records of death/marriage for any of them (other than a marriage for Richard and Jane A Howarth in Maine).
Is there anyone who can help, or at least point me in the right direction.
Cheers
