Francis Dermody

COBLESKILL — Francis Vincent Michael Dermody, 84, of Markley Road, died Sunday, Oct. 23, 2005, at Eden Park Healthcare Center in Cobleskill, where he had been a resident.
Mr. Dermody was born July 10, 1921, in Jamaica, the son of William and Gertrude (Drew) Dermody.

He was a United States Army veteran, serving in England during World War II from 1941 to 1945.

Mr. Dermody retired from the New York City Transit Authority where he was a motorman for the subway.

He resided in Jefferson for 27 years and was a member of the Summit Senior Citizens. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Stamford and most recently a communicant of St. Vincent de Paul Church in Cobleskill.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Betty; three sisters, Gertrude, Marie and Helen; and a brother, Joseph.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby (Christie) Dermody, of Cobleskill; three stepdaughters, Melody Morgan (Lyn) of Plano, Texas, Kelly Spann (Mark) of Garland, Texas, and Michele Johnson (Dennis) of O’Fallon, Ill.; three stepsons, Robert Morgan (Audrey) and Gary Morgan (Nancy), all of Cobleskill, and Kevin Morgan of Willards, Md.; a sister, Anastasia Dermody of Flushing; two nephews, Vincent Miller (Irene) of Unadilla, and Richard Lynch (Donna) of Hanover, Pa.; a sister-in-law, Anna Coffey of Levittown; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25, at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill. A calling hour will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, before the service. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Stamford.
