BURLINGTON - Verona Pack Evans, age 88, of 3396 Garden Road, passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at Duke University Hospital.

A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Claytoe A. Evans and daughter of the late Walter DeWitt and Nannie Mae Stadler Pack, Sr.

She retired from Western Electric after 34 years of service and was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church and former choir member of the church.

Survivors include her sisters, Peggy P. Brooks and Betty P. Sharpe both of Burlington and brother, Grady Pack and wife Patricia of Burlington.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brothers, Walter DeWitt Pack, Jr. and Raymond Kenneth Pack and sister, Ruth Pack Cox

Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, March 15, 2012 at the Emmanuel United Methodist Church by the Rev. Neal Salter, pastor. Interment will follow in Pine Hill cemetery. Mrs. Evans will remain at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory until being taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the funeral service. The family will receive friends at Lowe Funeral Home from 6-8pm Wednesday.
