John Gilson Bryan b. 1807 NC. Enlisted in Civil War 1862-63 from Alexander Co. NC. Went in as a Capt., honorable discharge in 1863 as a Maj. because of health and old age (53 yrs old). Came to Homer, Banks Co, after the war. Died in Banks Co GA about 1904. I would also like to know where he was before 1862 and how long after the War before he came to GA. A John Gilson Bryan is buried at Silver Shoals Baptist church in Homer Ga. He was pastor there. 1900 Census shows him living in Banks Co.
