GERMANTON, NC - Mr. John Edward "Ed" Ross, 78, passed away Friday, March 12, 2010 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
He was born March 1, 1932 in Allegany County to the late Dollie Robert Ross and Katherine Mae Pennington Ross.
Mr. Ross was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Rural Hall and was retired from the United States Air Force as an air traffic controller and from Lab Corp as a driver. During his time in the Air Force, he served during the Korean War and served in the South Pacific, Philippines Taiwan and Japan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard G. Ross and Robert A. Ross; and two sisters, Mildred Reece and Juanita Harris.
Mr. Ross is survived by his loving wife, Eder Dean Ross of the home; a son, Michael Ross of California; a granddaughter, Michele Ross; two step-daughters, Faye Huneycutt and husband, Rick of Mt. Pleasant and Carol Adkins and husband, Thomas of Bethania; three step-grandchildren, Chris Huneycutt and wife, Katie, Leslie H. Rector and husband, Kent and Timothy Adkins; one sister, Mary Richardson of Walnut Cove; and several nieces and nephews.
A Graveside Service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, Sunday, March 14, 2010 at Crestview Memorial Park in Rural Hall with the Rev. Evelyn Lemons officiating. The family will receive friends directly following the Service at Faith United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: Faith United Methodist Church Building Fund, 1645 Griffin Rd., Rural Hall, NC 27045.
