Thelma Atwood Mabe, 97, of Sparta, N.C., a resident of Grayson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Independence, died April 5, 2011, at the center.
She was the widow of Edgar Mabe.
She was born Jan. 14, 1914, at Alleghany County, N.C., to Frank and Minnie Sanders Atwood.
Survivors include two sons, Edwin Mabe of Edgewood, Md., and Roger Mabe and wife, Judy of Sparta, N.C.; daughter, Christine Irwin and husband, Kemp of Sparta, N.C.; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Tom D. and Rosalie Atwood of Sparta, N.C.; and sister-in-law, Edith Atwood of Yadkinville, N.C.
A funeral service was held Friday at the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel in Independence.
