I would like to know if anyone has any land records or can do a look up on land records?
If so I am looking for some land records for John Wesley Osborne, he donated land to the Mountain View Church in Creston. He was born June 1857 in NC. He was the son of Alexander and Sarah "Sallie" (Thomas) Osborn. Alexander was shot by soldiers while rounding up his hogs. He was married 2 times - 1. Sarah Thomas (b. Nov 20, 1850 - d. 31 march, 1894) 19 Feb. 1878 in Ashe Co. NC - 2 married about 1894, Emma N Brown (b. 2 Jan, 1870)
1900 Census John was 42 y/o. married 6 yrs. to Emma. He was living on farm with 3 children from 1st wife, Emma, and son Byron 3 y/o
He appeared before the Clerk of Johnson Co, TN and swore that Milton and Ella were each over 16 years of age when they wanted to get married. He signed his name J W Osborne. The first time there was an e put on the Osborn.
1920 John age 62 lived on farm with wife Emma 40 and their 3 children and one grandchild.
John lived about one mile from the Mountain View Church, Creston. He donated the land for the church and cemetery. In the early 30's the old house was torn down and a new one built about a quarter mile from the old one.
John died July 8, 1941 in Ashe County, NC.
Can anyone help with any information??
Thanks,
Sherry Jones
