Looking for location of cemetery associated St. James Christian Methodist Episopal Church in Chocowinity, Beaufort County, NC. Church address is 486 Gray Road. Searched for cemetery behind and to side of church with no luck. Cemetery was used in the mid-1930’s. Does anyone know where the cemetery is located? Is/was there a community cemetery that was shared amongst African Americans at that time perhaps?

Am looking for gravesite of Unnamed Baby (male) Chapman buried at St. James on 3 Nov 1922 and assume other family members may be buried there, too. His parents were Alonza Chapman Sr ( ca 1865-1934) and wife Sarah/Sallie (DAWSON) Chapman (ca 1882 – 1935). Both parents’ death certificate lists burial location as simply ‘Chocowinity’. Siblings were:

Clayton W. Chapman (born 1911 - 1990)
James A. Chapman (ca 1913 - )
Alice Chapman (ca 1914 - ?)
Maggie Chapman (ca 1916-1936)
Irene Chapman (ca 1920 - 1936)
Earl Chapman (ca 1928 - ?
Not named (ca 1924 - ?)
