Yes, I know about this, but these records on ancestry are not in the least comprehensive. For example, if you go to the record listing you provided, only schedules for 1870 are listed for North Carolina, and only two counties are listed, Bertie not being one of them.

My point was (perhaps I was not clear) that extensive copies of Schedule 4 (and later Schedule 3) EXIST on microfilm, but are not transcribed at ancestry.com.

For example, at the Joyner Library at East Carolina University I was able to find these schedules for 1850 for Bertie County (not listed at ancestry); 1860 for Bertie County (not listed at ancestry);
1870 for Bertie County (not listed at ancestry); 1880 for Bertie County (not listed at ancestry).

The holdings at ancestry seem to be a tiny fraction of what is actually available.

I'm not sure why you are being so dismissive when these schedules actually exist, provide useful information, and are not indexed at ancestry.
