Mel, some of the names you have are in my family too. My 2x g-gfather was an Alexander Carter married second wife, Ora. There was a John Carter married to Sarah Herrin, but Alexander was also married to first wife, Sarah Herrin, with 6 children. Both John and Alexander were the sons of John Carter b.ca.1790 and Martha Tucker, b. 1800. Since these names are often repeated, I don't believe they are the same Sarah. Henry Carter, b. 1871 was the son of Ora who may have died at his birth, as he was orphaned at 6 mos. Dr. Edmons raised him for awhile and then he shows up in another Carter household in the 1880 Census (not unusual). Alexander and Ora also had other sons: Leonard b. 1856 moved to Wayne County, GA as young man (my g-gfather); William Jas. Carter b. 1859 moved to Denver CO, and Henry Bascom Carter b. 1871 moved to Lakeland, FL. These brothers worked together and were successful businessmen. Females: Catherine, Elizabeth, Martha, Sarah.
