Hi Jackie, there may very well have been close ties to the Ashleys and Smith families. My Browns had close ties to both the Smiths and Ashleys. Two of Robert Fisher Brown Sr.'s sons [William & Jesse] married 2 Smith sisters [Morning/Mourning & Sarah]. My DNA matching results page at Family Tree DNA shows several different DNA submitter matches between Ashleys and my Brown line. There are Winns DNA related to my Brown line too. Emnail me privately & I'll tell you more. The Ashley line related to my Browns go back to NC., early 1700's. I believe the Smith line that is related to my Browns includes the John "Little River" Smith line.
