Surnames:
Actually you might also try Pasquotank and Tyrrell Counties in North Carolina. How the Sawyer family came there, who knows? Some went south even as far as TX. Others stopped off in TN, MO, SC. My particular line went west to IL and then great grandparents made it all the way to WA.
