Do any of you know of a connection to Margaret King b1805 and her mother, Catherine King b1778 in Yancey Co. NC--neither of which was believed to have married? We believe all of the Kings of Yancey Co. NC are connected to these two women.

The nearby Madison Co. NC Kings appear to descend from William King who was about the same age as Margaret. He lived in Yancey Co. before Madison Co. was formed. I have researched William King of Madison Co. for years in hopes it would lead me to Margaret and Catherine's family but have not been able to determine with certainty from which line William descends.

We have done DNA testing through FTDNA on two male King descendants of Margaret and Catherine King of Yancey Co. and because family tradition indicates that neither of these women were married, our tests yielded matches to the Honeycutt, Gillespie and Elkins names, but no Kings. We were not surprised by this, but felt we needed to test to confirm our suspicions.

Because our results showed no King matches, we cannot be included in any of these surname studies according to the administrators. Can anyone offer us some direction as to which King family these women might connect? Catherine was probably a King by birth and was born in GA (1778). If she did marry, then it would be her daughter Margaret who was a King by birth. No MTDNA testing has been done.

Thanks for any help....
