I have a great deal of information on Patton Family in
Buncombe Co., NC. Elizabeth Patton who married David Crokett, was the dau. of Robert Patton. This was her second
marriage as it was also David Crockett Second marriage. She
went to Texas after his death at Alamo. The state of Texas
gave her land in his honor. The smallest state park in the
world is a statue of her in Hood County, Texas. She was
married to her cousin James Patton who was killed in the
Indian Wars. David Crokett was married to Mary "Polly"
Finley first. They had children, but she died, and David
Crokett married Elizabeth. Some say this was a marriage for
money, as Elizabeth had a lot of money, as did her father.
It is known that David Crokett borrowed a lot of money from
her father, Robert Patton.
