Thank you very much for this obit. LC McCLELLAN was the husband of my first-cousin, twice removed, Harriett Ann TATUM (1838-1925). He married Hariett on 22 May 1856 in Marietta, Cobb County, GA.
Hariett was the d/o Joseph John "Jesse" TATUM and Margaret White POTTER. The TATUMS and the POTTERS were from Christiansted, Saint Croix, Dutch West Indies (now, the US VI).
The TATUMS, POTTERS and Margaret POTTER's older sister, Anne Eliza POTTER, who married Charles W. RICHTER, also of St. Croix, migrated to GA in the 1830's - the RICHTERS to Madison, Morgan County, GA and the TATUMS to Marietta.

The oldest daughter of Leander Calvin McCLELLAN and Harietta Ann POTTER was Alice Josophine McCLELLAN who was later known as Alice McClellan BIRNEY, the founder of the PTA. Other McCLELLAN children married into the HAYNES and SMITH families - Lillian May McCLELLAN born 1862 married William Montgomery HAYNES in 1882 and Grace Lee McCLELLAN born 1864 married James Emmett SMITH in 1890.

I am a descendent of the RICHTERS of Madison, GA.
