I am researching William MC Gray, born approx 1814 in North Carolina, died 1899 in Panola County Texas. I have found someone I believe is him on the 1840 census in Cabarrus County as head of the household, age 20-30. Can anyone tell me if this is the same individual who was shown in the household of Jane Gray as one of the males 15-20?

Any guidance on helping me break through this brick wall is appreciated.
