I am researching the Dennis family that lived in
Amherst county VA from 1780 to abt. 1797 and a possible Camden family relationship. Elisha Dennis born abt. 1760 married Elizabeth Hudson in Amherst in 1780. They migrated to Garrard county Kentucky from
Amherst in the late 1790's along with the Hudson,Lewis,Steele and a number of other families from the Amherst area. In Elisha's will dated 1824 he left the bulk of his Estate to his son Beverly Dennis and his "daughter"
Sibby (Camden) Dennis. I believe that Sibby was actually
Elisha's daughter in law and Beverly's wife. I think Sibby was born in the 1790's. I can't see how Sibby would have the Camden middle name without there being a family connection. I've seen Sibby's name written in several different ways Siba,Sibba,Shibola,Sibolth and Libby. Sibby would be my gr gr gr grandmother. I have seen were there was a William Camden that was killed by robbers in Garrard county Kentucky in 1805. Can anyone help me connect Sibby with the Camden family of Amherst VA. or Garrard county Ky.?
